Earning an Associate in Medical Technology & Assisting opened doors to various opportunities within the healthcare and medical laboratory field. 


  1. Hands-On Skills: The program provided hands-on training      in laboratory techniques, instrumentation, and specimen handling, giving me practical skills essential for accurate testing and analysis.
  2. Specialization Options: During the program, I had the opportunity to specialize in clinical chemistry, microbiology, hematology, immunology, or molecular diagnostics.
  3. Critical Thinking: This degree has helped me to develop strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  4. Quality Assurance: As medical technicians, we were involved in quality control and quality assurance processes to maintain the accuracy and      reliability of laboratory testing and settings.


Overall, an Associate degree in Medical Technology gave me the education and skills needed to start a rewarding career in medical technology. It offered a direct path to becoming an essential healthcare team member, positively impacting patient outcomes and healthcare delivery. However, I decided to go into the Instructional Design Technology (IDT) field and train in healthcare behind the scenes.

Earning an Associate degree in Business Administration offered me many skills and opportunities within the business industry. 

  1. Foundational Business Knowledge: The degree gave me a solid understanding of fundamental business concepts, including accounting,      marketing, management, finance, economics, and business communication.
  2. Versatility: This degree covered various topics, making it versatile and applicable to multiple industries and roles.
  3. Transferable Skills: The skills I acquired, such as communication, problem-solving, critical thinking, and time management, were valuable across industries and helped me to succeed in various job roles.
  4. Small Business Ownership: With a solid business foundation, I was better prepared to start and manage my consulting business years later.
  5. Management Opportunities: As I gained experience and advancement in my career, I      moved into management and director roles.
  6. Professional Networking: During my studies, I had the opportunity to connect with peers, professors, and professionals in the business community, building a network that helped to support my career growth.
  7. Understanding Business Operations: I gained insights into howbusinesses operate, which was beneficial when I started my consulting business.
  8. Team Collaboration: I developed skills in working effectively within teams, which is a crucial aspect of many business environments.

An Associate's in Business Administration provided me with a solid foundation to advance my career in the business world. While it may be an entry point, it offered valuable knowledge and skills that led to various opportunities in my career paths within the business field and eventually to start my own consulting business.
